Regulatory developments in the field of sustainability

Eva Margrét Ævarsdóttir, who leads Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) services at LEX, wrote about a few aspects of sustainability in the latest issue of Lögmannablaðið (published by the Icelandic Bar Association) and how sustainability matters will shape the work of lawyers in the near future. Amongst other she wrote about how the concept of sustainability has been evolving, the framework around sustainability and about the harmonization of standards currently taking place. Further, she talks about the impact of the proposed legislative changes both under The EU European Green deal and other initiatives and about increased emphasis on sustainable investing and the risk of greenwashing. She also talks about how human rights issues are rising up the agenda.
